Almost two-thirds of the population suffer Neck pain (or cervicalgia) at some point in their lives. Although pain in the neck is felt in the neck, it can be caused by numerous other spinal problems.
The primary causes of neck pain can be due to muscular tightness in either the neck and upper back, or pinching of the nerves emanating from the cervical vertebrae. Joint disruption in the neck creates pain, as does the joint disruption in upper back. Other factors causing pain in the neck are most likely due to herniated disc, degenerative spine changes, myopathies.
Most common symptoms for neck pain are aching, cramping or shooting kind of pain in the neck and pain may radiate to the arms as well in some cases. Neck pain may come from any of the structures in the neck including: vascular, nerve, airway, digestive, and musculature / skeletal or be referred from other areas of the body.
